Kangkong is one of Malaysia's favourite veggies, as evidenced by the way too many times my school meals include them.It's also known as water spinach, but there are no Fire Spinach, Earth Spinach or Air Spinach to support this family. Rather alike to watercress, Kangkong (not King Kong) is green, leafy, and mild in taste. Many of the how-you-eat-its, aka dishes, are cooked by dunking it in strong tasting sauces, like soy or oyster sauce. Science class time: it absorbs the taste of the saucy sauces, which bring out the slight nuttiness of its own flavors - however I don't understand why it would taste like nuts.
But don't just eat it because it tastes good, eat it because it's also nutritious! Kangkong is the source of life - aha, that is to say, several nutrients like Vitamin A, copper (yay, we eat metal), calcium and zinc.
